Why I’m Running
After a lot of conversations, and more than a little encouragement from my wife, I decided to run for the Topsham Select Board. My involvement with Midcoast Youth Hockey, Cub Scouts, and other community efforts has given me the opportunity to work alongside families, volunteers, local organizations, businesses, and community leaders throughout our area.
Those experiences have shown me what can happen when people listen, work together, and take responsibility for building the kind of community they want to live in. Topsham has important decisions ahead about housing, infrastructure, public services, community spaces, and what residents can reasonably afford.
I will not approach those decisions pretending to have every answer. I will listen, ask good questions, explain the tradeoffs honestly, and work toward practical solutions that serve the entire town.
My Priorities for Topsham

A Community Where People Belong
Support accessible recreation, parks, trails, the library, and shared spaces that help every resident participate in community life. Investments are evaluated on need and long-term operating costs.

Thoughtful Housing and Development
Support housing opportunity while ensuring development respects road capacity, public safety, and the essential character of Topsham. Clear, predictable decisions serve the town's interest.

Value and Honesty for Taxpayers
Evaluate spending based on purpose and measurable value to residents. Prioritize essential infrastructure and explain budget decisions in language everyone can understand.

Responsive Local Government
Give residents clear information and meaningful opportunities to participate. Treat disagreements respectfully and communicate honestly about difficult choices.

Community Involvement
01
Gil serves as president of Midcoast Youth Hockey and has been an active volunteer with Scouting, Youth Baseball, and Williams-Cone School.
Through that work, he has helped manage growth, budgets, volunteers, partnerships, programs, and the competing needs that come with serving a broad community. That experience has reinforced a simple belief: good leadership begins with listening, preparation, follow-through, and respect for the people affected by each decision.
